Having just realised I have made my diary sound like a gangster epic with the title, I would just like to say it’s not all murder and corruption for my character, in fact there’s none of that, but there is stealing, yes stealing, after finding out a nifty little secret yesterday I stole myself some headphones for my character, I did this by going into the music sample room in the LAX Club in New Venezia and clicking on the headphones to listen to the music, then if you transport to someone you take the headphones with you, ok they do disappear when you log off but you can easily get them back again.
I then went onto find more secret locations, like the boat, which required my character to climb on cranes and then jump into fresh air then you magically land on a boat, but there’s nothing on it so it was quite pointless, but on the plus side you get respekt points for it.
What is that awful multicoloured shirt that Craigs avatar is wearing??, is he auditioning for a VSide Joseph & The Technicolour Dream coat, the answer is no, I’m not, it’s a secret shirt you win for finding one of the Black Market Jack characters in La Genoa Aires, I had to do some climbing to find the character and then when I got to him i had tell him this code, ‘/CODE DON’ this then sent me to the shirt.
I then moved away from secret finding to go dancing in the club, I met up with some of the people on my friends list in there and we had some conversations whilst dancing the night away.
Whilst dancing in the club, I stumbled across the Dancetastique version 1.0 editor, this enable’s you to create dance moves and other gestures & expressions, this is found by pressing ‘CTRL + T’ on your keyboard, you can find some codes for it on the VSide forums which you then copy into wordpad on you computer, then you press the ‘copy from’ button on the Dancetastique version 1.0 and it then pastes the code into and you can perform it on the game.
Someone call a priest, Craig’s avatar is possessed, this is one of the said examples of using the Dancetastique version 1.0 editor, its called ‘The Exorcist’ and requires this code:
Dancetastique version 1.0
vSide
Hex
m
mnxrcst 100.0
It’s a shame the game doesn’t have ‘Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells’ on the soundtrack, I could have re-made The Exorcist on VSide.
Speaking of things that you don’t see very often, here’s an alien invasion picture, I stood on this Frisbee looking object and the next minute I’m surrounded by alien faces, this might be a case for Mulder & Scully
Well, that ends this episode of the VSide Diaries, look out for part 3 soon.

Here is the final rendered video for my identities project.
I added a light to the top of the box as it was hard to see the images from certain angles, I then put a camera into the equation and set my time line to 1250 frames, I started to edit the camera on the timeline and the using perspective and the camera view arranged it to move around the box then focus on the inside.
Once I had done this I previewed the animation and although the camera does jerk around a little I was happy with the outcome, once I rendered the animation and then added the music overlay was which was made by myself using Fruityloops Studio 7, I added the credits and then exported this as an AVI file and uploaded to youtube.
I feel doing this project as given me a good idea into what I want to do further down the line using the 3D Studio Max software and I feel I have made good progress in the program so far.

Here are the final rendered shots of my 3D model.
Once the CDJ was complete I then made my environment which has pictures of a nightclub, my room and me inside and on the outside has a dj, a mixer and headphones which relates to my model.
I then used the merge tool to combine the files.

Here are week one of my V-Side avatar, I started by creating my character, I did this by selecting my hair colour, eye colour, clothing and a name, I called my character Raoul van Janssen. After this I started to play the game.
Here are some pictures of my avatar in various surroundings, these where used as my online picture in my profile.
Once I had got into the online environment I started in a place called New Venezia where you can to various places like:
The main plaza
Tyra’s Studio
DJ Am’s LAX Club
And various shops where you can buy things using ‘Creds’ which is V-Sides currency, you get creds by using real money.
After aimlessly walking around to get used to the controls I went on a tour of New Venezia, to do this you meet up with The Guides at the main plaza, on the tour they take you around the hot spots of the Island and tell you the basics of V-Side, this was useful as I learnt the controls and where all the best places to meet people were.
I then went to DJ Am’s LAX Club and started talking to people, I made some friends in this area and also earned some ‘Respekt’, this is how popular your character is, you can earn respekt by competing tasks such as finding all the shops in the three areas of V-Side and by finding secret locations, you also get respekt for adding people to your friends list.
Here is a picture of my avatar dancing, I found a little club called ‘DDD’ in La Genoa Aires North, which is another island in V-Side, I like this part of the island as it plays my favorite style of music so I stayed here for a while, I found that not many people use this part of the island so I moved on to somewhere more populated.
This area was the last one I visited in week one.
Week two:
In week two I started to get a little adventurous and try to find some of the venues and shops so I could earn more respekt, I started in New Venezia and I eventually found all of the shops on that island, I earned respekt points for completing this task and this took me up a level to level 2, I also unlocked some free items.
I then moved onto La Genoa Aires and Rajuka (the third island of V-Side) and completed more tasks.
Upon completing the tasks and finding out that you can get respekt points for rating the music (which are actually real artists) my avatar was bumped up to level 3.
This ends week two of my V-Side adventures.

Today we had a guest speaker from a company called Encounters, I found some parts of the lecture quite interesting and I have some good ideas on a little project.

Started to add more images to the model, which has made it look alot more like the actual thing now.
I have used alot of images as you can see by looking at the material editor, I shall add more later after I have finshed cutting them up in Photoshop.

After trying to get the Jog Wheel as accurate as possible I finally managed it, there is a slight difference due to me still having not figured out to attach polygons correctly, I have also started to layout the buttons and other features of the CDJ.
I made the buttons using the cylinder tool and then cloned them using the shift key and dragging the button to a new location on the interface, I then re-sized them and placed them in the locations where they are on the actual CDJ.

Here is a more recent picture of my CDJ model for my identities project, I finally managed to get the jog wheel onto the model without the image mapping sending it into a spiral shape, I did this by deleting the cylinder shape that i made for this part of the model and replacing it with a box tool and then used the opacity map in the material editor so it was only the wheel that was visible, i have also added the pitch slider and the LED screen at the top.
I still think it needs more work but im pleased with how it is shaping out at the minute.

As part of my identities project I will be modeling a CDJ, shown below, this will be done in 3D Studio Max.
Here is what I have so far.
This is a rendered image of the basic shape of the CDJ, I added some buttons and the pitch slider, this was done using the basic box and cylinder tools, I then converted them to editable mesh’s and used mesh smooth to add some roundness to give a more realistic look to the model.
Here is a screenshot of 3D Studio Max’s interface of when I was modeling the image, i have added the jog wheel to the model and changed the colour of the base unit.
Here is the rendered view of the unit with the jog wheel added abd the colour change on the unit.
I am pleased with the initial concept design of the CDJ so far, I will be adding some images to the model soon before rendering a final design.
